Stratford Town (U15).

Stratford Town Academy Youth (U17/18’s).
Stratford Town Academy Youth Team has competed in the Midland Junior Premier League since under 12’s age group (earlier years playing at a neighbouring club). The team have had five successful seasons in the MJPL winning the Premier league title during 2008/2009 season and finalists in two cup finals.
The team became part of Stratford Town Academy at the beginning of last season because the facilities offered by the club we believe are the best in the league. Home matches are played next to Stratford Town F.C at the NFU Mutual sports ground, which offers the opportunity to play matches at a very high quality venue and training is at the clubs Millennium 3G pitch. We also play some matches at Stratford Town’s excellent DCS Stadium.
Stratford Town Academy have teams at under 15/ 16/17&18 and 21’s age groups playing in the Midland Junior Premier League next season.
We are currently looking for a few players to complete the youth (U17/U18) squad for the 2010/2011 season and are holding trials weekly during July. If you have previously played in the MJPL, an Academy or School of Excellence or played in local leagues and believe that you have the ability to play at a higher level we would like you to contact us and join us for a trial.

Please contact the youth team (U17/U18’s) manager Mark Newbold on 07966 477790 for additional information.

New U21 Football league Launch a Great Success....”.Nice one” says Cyrille Regis MBE

Former England Footballer and now president of the Midland Junior Premier Football League (MJPL) Cyrille Regis MBE is delighted with the terrific Cyrille Regisresponse the league have received following its launch of a new U21 league, this new concept, is the only one of its kind in the country to be fully approved by the FA Registrations and Sanction Committee and sanctioned by the Birmingham County FA .

“This is a huge step forward which will undoubtedly help fill the void which now exists between youth and adult football, hopefully we ( the MJPL) will now be able to give the players in this age group the opportunity to continue their development, playing in a competitive, high standard of football in a well organised environment”
says Cyrille Regis MBE

Several league clubs have already expressed an interest to be involved, fielding teams from their Football in The Community initiatives. Birmingham City has already registered, with Bristol Rovers and Man Utd also in advanced discussions with the MJPL. The interest from league clubs is also matched with that from some of the top non league clubs from the region including Redditch Utd, Nuneaton Town, AFC Telford, Atherstone and Romulus, who have a

Redditch Utd 1st Team Trials (updated)

Due to the overwhelming response to the advert for the ‘open trials’ to be held at The Valley Stadium on Saturday July 3rd the club have had to take the decision to close the book for any further applications in order that those attending the trials are given a fair chance to show off their talents to the management team.

Club Secretary, Tim Delaney, said of the decision to close the applications, ‘The response has been unbelievable, my phone has not stopped with at least 3 or 4 calls every day from people registering their interest in attending since we announced the trials last week. The idea for the open trials was one put forward by the fans at the Fans Forum back in May as a way of giving local talent the opportunity to show their ability and have the chance to play at a decent level of non-league football with the club, our new manager Matt Gardiner immediately embraced the idea hence the decision to put the trials on.

Reds manager Matt Gardiner himself said of the response, ‘this has been brilliant and hopefully we will unearth some local talent that will complement the squad and get the opportunity to prove themselves in the Blue Square Bet North League next season, we are not looking for specific players for specific positions, this is an open session for anyone who thinks they may have something to offer and we will treat it with an open mind and see what happens, we are excited about this and overwhelmed by the response and would like to thank the fans for their valid input and putting this idea forward as it is vital we work together for the good of the club.’

Depending on how successful the trial is in July, the club may well decide to add a similar session at a later date and if this is the case the details will be announced in the usual way through the local press and the club’s own website.

Kind Regards,

Tim Delaney

New MJPL Logo & Patches

The Midland Junior Premier League Committee are pleased to officially release the new league logo and also the introduction of our league arm patches which are to be worn on all home and away shirts from the start of the new season.

The New League Logo
The old league logo featuring a green map outline of the mainland UK has been in place since the leagues inception but it had become evident that we needed something more flexible to enable us to make subtle changes such as to include "U21" for our new Under 21 league. So after looking at many options we finally came up with the simple idea of a football with a golden crown on top. This says exactly what the league is about.. Premier Football. Any accompanying wording will be applied to this logo when/if necessary for each instance.

We also propose to drop the word "Football" from the leagues title and so we would be know as The Midland Junior Premier League & The Midland Junior Premier Under 21 League.

Introducing the New MJPL Arm Patch

The leagues main aim as always been to provide our players with the best possible environment to enjoy developing their football skills and craft, we as a league have set stringent standards and criteria which all teams must abide by and work towards providing 100% of the time. Each year the management committee hear countless good news stories regarding players & coaches progressing to senior teams or moving on to academies and centres of excellences. This rate of success doesn't just happen by accident, a great deal of credit must go to the Coaches, Administrators, Parents & Players at each club for incredible amount of dedication, time and hard work they put in.

Together we are improving the standards of youth football in this country, time and again you have shown that you are prepared to go that extra mile to try and make a difference for our players.

The MJPL is not just any run of the mill league and our teams are not just any old run of the mill teams, as the countless number of talent scouts have confirmed, our teams at all age groups have some of the finest players and coaches in the UK.

So we are very excited to announce that from the start of the new season we will introduce the brand new MJPL arm patches. The patches are available in two designs.

Design One: Is the leagues new logo set on a white shield and this is only available to MJPL teams.

Design Two: Is the leagues new logo set on a Gold shield accompanied by the words "Champions" and "2009/10". This is only available to any of the National League Winners from 2009/10 season.

Photos- MJPFL u16 Rep v Stoke City Academy u15

Photos Available - Last week the MJPFL u16 Representative team excepted and invitation to play Stoke City Academy u15 team at the impressive Newcastle-under-Lyme College. The game was a great advert for the work being done by both the MJPFL teams and the Stoke City Academy.

The game was very even with both sides sharing possession and creative football was in abundance. The MJPFL representative side finished up winners by 1 goal to nil which was scored by Burton Albions Ricki Birch but in fairness there could have been many more goals and as both sides competed well.

Willenhall u15 Players Sign For Walsall

Well done to Callum Williams, who at first was signed by Aston Villa but unfortunately was released after a few months, he came back to Willenhall Town U15 where we did our best to keep his confidence up and kept him playing top flight football which paid off because within weeks he was again snapped up by Walsall FC. Congratulations also to Liam Roberts who has for quite a few months been playing a year above himself at Walsall FC in goal.

He has already been raising a few eyebrows at Manchester United, that much in fact, he was invited up there for a one on one training session with Ben Foster, it doesn't surprise me though because he is a special talent. Finally, congratulations to James Lunn who also now has signed for Walsall FC, he has had many weeks injured but i could still see the talent in him and stuck with him and all credit to him for keeping his chin up and showing good attitude in a frustrating time and now he can reap in the awards with hopefully an enjoyable time in his football career.

Thank you to the MJPFL and Willenhall Town for producing a platform for these boys to build upon.

Well done lads! Its been a pleasure.

Latest FA Respect News

Respect is The FA’s programme to address unacceptable behaviour in football – on and off the pitch. On average, thousands of referees quit football every year at because of the abuse they receive from players and from the sidelines. Lots of children also pack it in because of the attitude and actions of over-enthusiastic and pushy parents.

In response, The FA’s Respect programme provides a series of tools for leagues, clubs, coaches, Referees, players and parents from grassroots to elite football to ensure a safe, positive environment in which to enjoy the game.

These tools include agreed codes of conduct, in-service training for Referees, Respect club packs, spectator designated spectator areas and ensuring captains work with referees to manage player behaviour.

Wednesfield U14 players sign for Port Vale

Approximately six weeks ago during the long winter break Wednesfield under 14's were able to play under the floodlights at the Cottage ground against Port Vale Acedemy. A successful night resulted in two players being taken on trial. Both players Matthew Bartlett & Mathew Warner have now signed contracts with Port Vale. Two more players have now began trials, these being David Lander & Kainth Mole. Wednesfield wish all the best to these two. This successful union between the two sides has resulted in an affiliation that will see further players hopefully go on trial and the beginning of pre-season friendlies both home and away. This has also resulted in Wednesfield being able to hold trials of their own as they look to bring in more players and hopefully develop them to a better standard.

Bromsgrove Rovers link up with the MK Dons Academy
In the summer both U14's & U15's squads played friendlies against respective age groups from the MK Dons.

On Monday evening Rovers U15's returned to the MK Dons indoor dome & took part in a two hour session with academy players where they played both small sided & and an 11-a-side match.

The one thing as coaches we noticed on our first visit was how the MK Dons coaching staff only issued instructions in the breaks - there was absolutely no coaching during match play. The second we noticed was how fast the footwork both off & on the ball. Short quick passing like we see from Arsenal every week was the order of the day.

In the intervening months at Rovers we have concentrated on 2 or 3 touch small sided training sessions along with SAQ drills.

What was particularly pleasing last night was how much we had improved from our 1st visit & whilst the MK Dons lads were still technically superior , the improvement in the Bromsgrove lads was clear to see, so much so that the Academy Director paid us a huge compliment by saying how impressed he was with the standard.

During the last two or three seasons we have been busy behind the scenes establishing close links with some of this countries top football clubs, these include Aston Villa, West Bromwich Albion, Coventry City, Leicester City, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Birmingham City and Bristol Rovers to name just a few. The clubs listed above have all agreed to host representative games between their academy teams and the MJPFL representative teams, These games will take place midweek from January to March of the football season and the opportunities will exist for all MJPFL age groups.

Under 16's Mid Term Round Up

Burton Albion opened their Group 1 campaign with a 5-0 victory over Austrey Rangers who were thankful for goalkeeper Ellis Hunkins keeping the score down. Romulus had their scoring boots on when they faced Pilkington XXX and rattled up ten goals to their opponents one. Pilkington fared slightly better when they took on Burton but despite pulling a goal back when two down it was Burton who went on to win 6-1. Romulus had Jim Dale, Paul Murchington and Courtney Richards all scoring hat-tricks while Jan Trapszo capped that by getting on the scoresheet four times in a 17-0 win over Austrey Rangers who, despite their heavy defeat, earned the appreciation of those watching for their spirited performance. Austrey, after going one behind against Pilkington, scored their first goal but the understandable celebrations  seemed to distract them from the game at hand and they fell behind yet again. They then went on to take a 3-2 lead which Pilkington pulled back with a penalty. It was another spot-kick which gave Austrey a 4-3 victory. Romulus and Burton faced each other both defending 100% records and it was Romulus who

Under 14's Mid Term Round Up
Mile Oak Rovers are unbeaten in Group 1. They fell behind to Burton Albion in their first game before taking a 2-1 lead into the break. Growing in confidence as the game went on they finished as 4-1 winners. Burton twice took the lead in a competitive game at Mile Oak but the hosts twice came from behind to earn each side a point in a 2-2 draw. Nuneaton Town's opening match saw them rally after going behind to two very good Tividale goals. With the teams level 2-2 at the break Nuneaton's defence held out against some excellent football played by Tividale before clinching the game 4-2. In the return Tividale's flowing football was rewarded with six goals, without reply, in the first half. A stronger second-half showing enabled Nuneaton to pull back two goals before Tividale added to their firt-half tally to finish as 8-2 winners. In their last game Mile Oak took the lead just before the break and extended their lead before Tividale pulled one back. Tividale were unable to build on this and eventually fell 4-1. Nuneaton Town started well on Saturday and led 2-0 at the change around before Burton also scored two for a share of the spoils.
